A 27-year-old Florida man is facing multiple charges after police say he crashed his vehicle near Lakeland, then fled into a swamp while carrying two young children. The incident happened early Sept. 9 on Highway 33 near North Combee Road. According to Lakeland police, the vehicle went through a road-closure sign and sandbags before entering a construction area, where it overturned and came to rest against exposed tree roots. An 80-year-old Scottsdale man is facing felony charges after a door-to-door salesman was shot during a confrontation in a gated north Scottsdale neighborhood, leaving the victim hospitalized with a spinal injury and unable to feel his legs, according to court records and police. LEBANON, Ind. — A federal lawsuit involving a Lebanon residential program for teenage girls has expanded from nine plaintiffs to 35, with former residents alleging abuse, forced labor, isolation and exploitation during their time at the facility. The lawsuit was initially filed in April by nine women who said they lived at Central Indiana Teen Challenge as minors at various times. An amended complaint filed June 16 added 26 more former residents to the case. An adult bicyclist was critically injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck on the north side of Indianapolis, according to police. The crash happened around 1 p.m. Sept. 15 near the intersection of East 56th Street and North Rural Street. Police identified the woman as Maria Ines Granda. Officers were called to the first-floor apartment on 79th Street in Bay Ridge Monday morning after a report of an unconscious person.
