A 98-year-old West Sunbury woman died Tuesday after her Subaru Legacy collided with a Freightliner truck at the intersection of Route 8 and Duffy Road in Brady Township, Butler County. The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Pennsylvania State Police said. Investigators determined that Helen Schubert was traveling west on Duffy Road when she went through the stop sign at the Route 8 intersection and entered the path of the approaching truck. A Jefferson County jury has found Harold E. Luster guilty of killing his 26-year-old son, Kevin M. Ward, during a confrontation at the family home in High Ridge, Missouri, on Christmas Eve 2024. A brush fire that moved quickly through the hills of La Habra Heights destroyed two homes and damaged two outbuildings Monday, while two people, including a firefighter, were injured as crews worked to protect nearby neighborhoods. The Palos Fire began shortly before 2:30 p.m. near the 2400 block of Las Palomas Drive in the hills near the Los Angeles and Orange County border. MALIBU, Calif. — A Malibu family is preparing to return home after the Palisades Fire, marking a major step in the city’s long rebuilding process.
