UPPER POTTSGROVE, Pa. — A 22-year-old man was fatally shot by an Upper Pottsgrove Township police officer early Sunday after authorities responded to a 911 call about a possible break-in at a home on Snyder Road. The man was identified as Glenwood Earl Pysher IV, known to family and friends as “Bubba.” According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, police were called to the residence at about 12:29 a.m. on Aug. 23. A Colorado man who carried out a series of random stabbing attacks, including an attack on a 7-year-old boy inside a Walmart, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. Luke Barkhaus, 33, received the sentence Monday in Douglas County following the January 2025 attacks in Parker. According to prosecutors, three people were injured in separate incidents, and the victims included a restaurant employee, another person attacked at a local business and a child who was shopping with his family at Walmart. EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 21-year-old Indiana mother is facing a felony neglect charge after police said her 4-year-old daughter, who is nonverbal and autistic, left a hotel room and was found alone in a nearby parking garage. Isabella Nadine Bertinelli was arrested Monday, Aug. 24, following an investigation that began June 3, according to Evansville police and court records. She is charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury. Georgia teenager who killed her mother when she was 14 has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to felony murder and aggravated assault in the case. Lilyana Rose Wagner, now 16, received the sentence in connection with the November 2024 death of her mother, 51-year-old Rachel Suzanne Wagner, in Tifton, according to Tift Judicial Circuit District Attorney Patrick Warren. A Wisconsin woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for her role in the prolonged neglect and confinement of a 14-year-old girl who was found severely malnourished and weighing just 35 pounds last year. Kayla Stemler, 28, was sentenced Monday in Outagamie County Circuit Court after pleading no contest to three charges: chronic neglect of a child causing great bodily harm, chronic neglect causing emotional damage and false imprisonment, according to court records and local reporting. A California man and woman are facing murder charges in connection with the December 2025 death of 37-year-old Geoffrey Bernardi, a Clovis educator who died after being severely beaten near a canal. Antonio Garcia, 40, of Tulare, and Misty Gomez, 32, of Dinuba were arrested in Mexico on Aug. 19 by U.S. Marshals with assistance from investigators, according to the Clovis Police Department. The couple was later brought back to California and booked into the Fresno County Jail. An Oxnard man has been convicted in the 2023 killing of Oscar Rodriguez, following a jury trial that ended with guilty verdicts on murder and firearm-related charges, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced Aug. 25. Omar Romo, 37, was found guilty of murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. Jurors also found several special allegations and aggravating factors to be true, including that Romo personally and intentionally discharged a firearm and was on parole when the shooting occurred. A 43-year-old Whiting man has died from injuries he suffered after being struck by a vehicle earlier this month in Manchester Township, police said. Richard J. Fescharek was pronounced dead on Aug. 14, five days after the crash, according to an updated statement from the Manchester Township Police Department. The crash happened shortly before 9:40 p.m. Aug. 9 near the intersection of County Route 530 and Swift Circle in the Whiting section of Manchester Township.
