A pedestrian was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by an SUV on Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie, according to police.

The crash was reported around 7:50 p.m. on the entrance ramp leading to the eastbound I-30 TEXpress lanes near MacArthur Boulevard. Investigators said the pedestrian had been riding in a vehicle that became disabled before the person got out and began walking along the ramp.

A Kia SUV traveling through the area then struck the pedestrian.

Grand Prairie Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead.

The SUV driver was not injured and remained at the scene, where the driver is cooperating with investigators, police said.

The pedestrian’s name has not yet been released. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to identify the person after relatives have been notified.

The circumstances surrounding why the disabled vehicle stopped and how the collision occurred are still being investigated. Authorities have not indicated that the SUV driver has been charged in connection with the crash.

The fatal collision remains under investigation as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events.
