Two men are being sought after an Uber driver was robbed at knifepoint early Wednesday morning near the Abington-Brockton town line, police said.
The incident was reported at about 5:52 a.m. on Brockton Avenue. The driver had gone to the area for a scheduled pickup when two men flagged down the vehicle, according to investigators.
Police said the men displayed a knife and demanded money. The driver handed over approximately $450 before the pair ran from the area and entered nearby woods close to the power lines.
The driver was not injured.
The suspects were described as two Black men wearing face coverings. One was wearing a black sweater, while the other was dressed in a dark blue hooded sweatshirt.
Abington police, assisted by officers from Brockton and Whitman, searched the surrounding area after the robbery. K-9 teams from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and a drone were also used during the search, but investigators did not locate the suspects.
Police are now asking people who were in the area during the early morning hours to come forward with any information that could help identify the men. Investigators are also asking nearby residents and businesses to check exterior security cameras and doorbell footage that may have captured activity around Brockton Avenue and the Abington-Brockton border.
The investigation remains active, and the suspects have not been identified publicly.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has surveillance footage that may assist investigators is asked to contact the Abington Police Department at 781-878-3232.
