A 17-year-old Texas girl is accused of arranging to meet a man at a Tomball park before attacking him with a pocket knife, leaving him with multiple stab wounds, authorities said.
Gabriele Olortegui is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the Sept. 18 incident at Burroughs Park on Hufsmith Road.
Deputies responding to the park found the man with injuries to his face, neck and hand. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was later reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators allege the meeting was arranged under false pretenses. According to court documents, Olortegui was upset because she believed the man had been sexually involved with her girlfriend.
The victim and Olortegui were not known to have an existing relationship, according to the information released in connection with the case.
Court documents allege that Olortegui used a pocket knife during the confrontation and stabbed the man several times in the face and head. Authorities have not indicated that anyone else was injured in the incident.
Olortegui was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Public booking records show that she was booked Sept. 22 on the aggravated assault charge, with bond set at $75,000. The charge remains an allegation, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Prosecutors have also asked that Olortegui be evaluated in connection with possible intellectual disability or mental illness, according to court filings.
Her case is scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 14.
The investigation and court proceedings are ongoing, and additional details could emerge as the case moves forward.
