Authorities are searching for 44-year-old Jerome Woody after he escaped custody from a hospital room in Marysville early Sunday morning.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said Woody escaped from Adventist Health Rideout Hospital shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23.
Woody had been receiving medical care while in custody and was being watched by a private security company contracted by Sutter County to provide nonviolent prisoner watches, according to authorities.
Sheriff’s officials said Woody was in custody on nonviolent charges and is not believed to be armed or dangerous.
Jail records show Woody had been arrested in connection with possession of a stolen vehicle and theft involving two prior theft convictions, according to the latest available reporting.
Authorities said Woody is homeless but has known ties to the Yuba-Sutter area. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown.
As of the latest available update, Woody had not been located.

The search remains ongoing, and authorities have not indicated that Woody is believed to pose a threat to the public.
