SAN JOSE, Calif. — A Friday night electronic music concert at Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose prompted more than a dozen medical responses, with about 10 people taken to area hospitals, according to San Jose police.
Emergency crews responded to a series of medical incidents during the event. Police said the cases involved a range of concerns, including suspected alcohol intoxication and issues believed to be related to drug use.
The concert took place Friday, Sept. 4, at Discovery Meadow, an outdoor venue at 180 Woz Way. The event featured The Chainsmokers, with Don Diablo and StephyV also listed among the performers. The concert was scheduled for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and was advertised as an 18-and-over event.
The number of medical calls reflects the activity emergency personnel handled during the concert, but authorities did not indicate that all of the incidents were connected to one another.
About 10 people were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and treatment. Police described the medical concerns as varied and did not report a single cause behind the hospital transports.
Discovery Meadow is located near West San Carlos Street and Woz Way in downtown San Jose. The park regularly hosts large outdoor music events and festivals.
Authorities have not indicated any broader public safety threat connected to the medical responses.
