SMYRNA, Ga. — What began as a family search for a missing woman in Smyrna has turned into a homicide investigation after authorities identified the remains of 26-year-old Shanteria “Tia” Mosely and charged an 18-year-old man with murder.
Mosely’s family said she left home Wednesday to work as a DoorDash driver and later stopped responding to messages. Relatives eventually tracked her phone and vehicle to the Park Valley Apartments in Smyrna, where they began searching for her.
Their search led investigators to a disturbing discovery and eventually to the arrest of Kingston Lammar Bradley, 18, who lives at the apartment complex.
Bradley was initially arrested on a charge of concealing the death of another person. Police have since added a malice murder charge as investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened to Mosely.
Family Traced Mosely’s Phone to Smyrna Apartment Complex
Mosely’s relatives became concerned after they could no longer reach her. Family members said they used her phone location to trace her to the Park Valley Apartments and found her vehicle in the area.
They began knocking on apartment doors and searching nearby wooded areas. Police were contacted during the search, and officers went to the complex.
According to investigators, officers initially responded after receiving information about Mosely’s phone and vehicle. Police later returned to the apartment complex after witnesses reported seeing Bradley carrying a container.
An arrest warrant states that a witness saw Bradley carrying a plastic tub through an open area of the complex. When he realized he had been seen, he allegedly dropped the container and ran toward his apartment.
Investigators found a dismembered human torso inside the tub.
Police Find Evidence Inside Bradley’s Apartment
A search of Bradley’s apartment uncovered several areas with blood staining and a large saw covered in blood, according to the arrest warrant.
Investigators also noted a strong smell of bleach inside the apartment. A mop, bucket of water and carpet-cleaning supplies were found during the search.
At the time of the initial discovery, police had not publicly identified the woman whose remains were found.
That changed as investigators continued processing evidence and searching the area.
Remains Believed to Be Mosely Found in Vehicle
On Friday, detectives searching a vehicle discovered trash bags inside its trunk. Investigators noticed that one of the tightly wrapped bags appeared to contain a body part and contacted the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Medical examiner personnel later confirmed that human remains were inside the bags. Based on the investigation, police said the remains are believed to belong to Mosely, who was known to her family and friends as “KT.”
The discovery provided investigators with additional evidence as they worked to establish a timeline and determine how Mosely died.
DoorDash Connection Still Being Examined
Mosely’s family said she had left home to make DoorDash deliveries before losing contact with her.
Police have confirmed that Mosely had a DoorDash account. However, investigators said company records indicated she was not logged in or accepting deliveries that day, leaving questions about what she was doing when she disappeared.
Authorities have not publicly explained how Mosely and Bradley knew each other or why she was at the apartment complex.
Police have also not released an official cause of death.
Investigation Remains Active
Investigators have continued conducting interviews and executing search warrants as they piece together what happened.
Police said they have recovered a significant amount of potential evidence and have used additional law-enforcement resources, including canine teams, during searches around the apartment complex.
Authorities have also said they have not found evidence at this point connecting the case to other victims or unrelated crimes.
Bradley remains in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
For Mosely’s family, the investigation began with an urgent search for a loved one who had stopped responding. It has now become a criminal case focused on determining how she died, what happened inside and around the Smyrna apartment complex, and whether anyone else was involved.
