A former preschool teacher in Jacksonville, Florida, is facing a child abuse charge after investigators allegedly found surveillance footage showing her pulling a young student by the ear inside a classroom.
Cheyenne Alyssa Eigner, 28, was arrested on October 1 in connection with an incident reported to have occurred on May 22 at Cornerstone Christian School, located at 9039 Beach Boulevard. She was charged with one count of child abuse, a third-degree felony.
According to the arrest report, investigators reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Eigner grabbing a child by the ear and dragging her from one side of a desk to the other. Authorities said there appeared to be no apparent reason for the action.
The child immediately grabbed her ear after Eigner released her grip, according to the report. Investigators noted that the girl appeared to be in pain, although no lasting injury was reported.
The child’s age has not been publicly disclosed in the available account.
School Says Former Employee Was Removed
Cornerstone Christian School confirmed that the case involved a former employee and an incident involving a student in May 2026.
The school said administrators removed the employee from campus and terminated her employment after learning about the incident. The matter was also reported to law enforcement, and the school said it cooperated with investigators throughout the process.
In its statement, the school emphasized that student safety and well-being remain a priority. It declined to provide further details because the case involves a student and is an active legal matter.
Cornerstone Christian School is a Christian educational institution in Jacksonville that serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Arrest Came Months After Alleged Incident
Eigner’s arrest took place more than four months after the alleged classroom incident. The arrest report does not explain why authorities took action in October rather than closer to the date of the reported incident.
She was booked into jail on a $5,000 bond and subsequently posted bond, according to the available report.
Her arraignment was scheduled for October 22, when the case was expected to proceed through the court system.
The charge remains an allegation, and the case must be resolved through the legal process. Further court proceedings may provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the allegations against Eigner.
