Four people have been arrested in connection with an attack and robbery involving a family at Westfield Culver City earlier this week, according to Culver City police.
The incident happened Monday, Aug. 31, at a retail location in the 6000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. Police were initially called around 4:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a group of juveniles harassing people at the shopping center.
The situation escalated when members of the group allegedly attacked a man who was at the mall with his girlfriend and their two young children. The man suffered significant injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
During the incident, the man’s girlfriend was also assaulted and had jewelry taken from her, police said. She suffered minor injuries. The two children were knocked from their stroller during the robbery and were taken to a hospital along with the woman as a precaution.
Investigators began working to identify those involved shortly after officers responded. Surveillance video from the area provided investigators with evidence and leads that helped move the case forward.
By Wednesday, Sept. 2, detectives had located four people in Los Angeles who were allegedly connected to the robbery and arrested them.
The suspects include two juveniles, along with 24-year-old Keira Wilis of Los Angeles and 18-year-old Zahier Frazier of Panorama City. All four were booked on suspicion of robbery, with police indicating that additional charges could be considered as the investigation continues.
Police have not said that the investigation is over. Detectives are continuing to work to identify and locate anyone else who may have been involved in the attack.
