Police in Belleville, Wisconsin, are searching for a man accused of physically assaulting two girls after he fell from his bicycle on the Badger State Trail.
The incident happened Monday, September 28, near Anderson Custom Processing in Belleville. Police said they were called shortly after 2:15 p.m. after receiving a report that two girls had been assaulted by a man riding a bicycle.
According to investigators, the girls were walking along the trail when the bicyclist fell off his bike. After getting back up, the man approached them aggressively before physically assaulting and pushing them to the ground, police said.
The man then left the area on his bicycle. Investigators said he was last seen on the trail near County Highway A in the Town of Montrose.
Police described the person they are looking for as a white man believed to be in his 30s or 40s. He has a beard and mustache and was wearing a gray-and-black spandex shirt and shorts along with a black helmet. His bicycle was described as black.
The Belleville Police Department is asking anyone who may have information about the man or witnessed the incident to contact police at 608-424-3129. Information can also be provided to the Dane County Communications Center at 608-255-2345.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the reported assault.
