A Mobile homeowner shot and killed a man who police say broke into the home through a window Monday night, and the case is now headed to a Mobile County grand jury for review. Mobile police responded to the 8300 block of Calgary Drive shortly after 9 p.m. Sept. 7 after receiving a report of shots fired. FORT LEE, N.J. — A five-month investigation into suspected cocaine and firearms trafficking across New Jersey and New York has led to the arrests of two Bergen County men and the seizure of more than 280 kilograms of cocaine, nine handguns, an assault rifle, ammunition and about $180,000 in cash. A 6-year-old girl was taken from her home in Washington Borough, New Jersey, during the early morning hours of September 5. A 6-year-old Frankfort girl died Tuesday after she was struck by a school bus during the afternoon student commute, according to Frankfort police. Officers were called to the 500 block of Aberdeen Road at about 3:24 p.m. Tuesday after a collision involving a school bus and a child. A coyote known and cared for by residents across Studio City has died after veterinarians found that a severe infection had caused extensive damage to her jaw and that two pellets were lodged in her head. The coyote, known locally as Wendy, had spent about a year roaming the community with a large swelling on the left side of her face. A 10-year-old girl from South Georgia is preparing for a bone marrow transplant after her cancer returned just months after she completed treatment. Christiana Jones, of Thomasville, was first diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma on Dec. 21, 2024, when she was 8 years old. Her mother, Faylisha James, said the diagnosis changed life for the family almost overnight.
