ATLANTA — An Atlanta woman has been sentenced to 16 years and three months in federal prison after a jury found her responsible for a fraud operation that caused Amazon to lose about $9.4 million, according to federal prosecutors.

Brittany Hudson, 40, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court and was also ordered to pay $9,469,731.45 in restitution to Amazon. She will serve three years of supervised release after leaving prison.

The case involved a months-long scheme in which Hudson and her former romantic partner, Kayricka Wortham, used fake vendors and fraudulent invoices to divert Amazon payments into accounts controlled by them and other people involved in the operation.

Fake vendors and more than 1,000 invoices

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, Hudson owned Legend Express LLC, a company that contracted with Amazon to deliver packages.

Wortham worked as an operations manager at Amazon’s warehouse in Smyrna, Georgia. Her position gave her authority to approve vendors and payments for vendor invoices.

From January through June 2022, Hudson and Wortham created dozens of bogus vendors in Amazon’s system. They then submitted more than 1,000 false invoices claiming those companies had provided goods or services to Amazon.

Wortham and another Amazon employee approved the fake vendor profiles, allowing the invoices to move through the company’s payment system. The fraudulent invoices ultimately resulted in approximately $9.4 million being transferred to bank accounts controlled by Hudson, Wortham and other co-conspirators.

Federal prosecutors said the money was used to fund an expensive lifestyle.

Among the purchases were a nearly $1 million home in Smyrna, a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a 2021 Dodge Durango, a 2022 Tesla Model X, a 2018 Porsche Panamera and a Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle.

Fraud continued after the Amazon scheme

The case did not end with the Amazon investigation.

After Hudson and Wortham were charged in September 2022, prosecutors said the pair attempted another fraud while they were out on bond.

In January 2023, they were trying to enter a franchise agreement to open a hookah lounge in Midtown Atlanta. They allegedly told a potential business partner that their federal charges had been dismissed.

To support the claim, they provided counterfeit court documents containing forged signatures attributed to former Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy C. Batten Sr. and Cobb County Magistrate Judge Norman L. Barnett. Hudson also supplied doctored financial statements showing inflated account balances, prosecutors said.

The attempt resulted in their pretrial release being revoked.

Hudson convicted on 30 federal charges

A federal jury convicted Hudson on March 13, 2026, on all 30 felony counts brought against her.

The convictions included conspiracy to commit wire fraud, 17 counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, nine money-laundering counts and forgery of the signature of a federal judge.

The court also ordered Hudson to forfeit assets connected to the fraud. That includes her Smyrna residence and money seized from her bank account. A separate forfeiture judgment totaled $7,859,135.54, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Federal prosecutors said the investigation was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service.

Wortham is also serving a lengthy sentence

Wortham, who pleaded guilty to the Amazon fraud case, was sentenced in 2023 to 16 years in federal prison and three years of supervised release, along with restitution to Amazon.

She later pleaded guilty to forging a federal judge’s signature in connection with the attempted franchise fraud. In March 2026, she received an additional consecutive year in prison, bringing her total sentence to 17 years.

The latest sentencing closes the federal prosecution of Hudson, who will now serve more than 16 years in prison for her role in the scheme.
