After a rough Thursday that brought severe storms, flash flooding, and even a tornado warning to parts of the region, Philadelphia finally gets a breather today. Friday is shaping up to be the pick of the week — the kind of day you actually look forward to after a stormy stretch.

The skies are clearing out, humidity is dropping, and there’s no rain in sight. Leave the umbrella at home and grab your sunglasses instead. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs settling in the low 80s — comfortable, dry, and a welcome change from last night’s chaos.

But don’t get too comfortable. The calm won’t last long.

The Weekend Weather Maker Is On Its Way

Saturday brings a shift back toward unsettled weather. Showers are expected to move in around sunrise, with more scattered showers and storms likely to develop through the rest of the day. Some areas could pick up more than half an inch of rain, and the Weather Prediction Center has placed the region under a Level 1 flood risk for Saturday.

The good news: as of Thursday evening, forecasters aren’t expecting severe weather with this system — just a general thunderstorm risk. That said, meteorologists are keeping a close eye on things, since forecasts like this can shift quickly.

Sunday looks like the better half of the weekend. While a few isolated showers or storms can’t be ruled out, conditions are trending drier overall, making it the more reliable day if you’re planning something outdoors. Temperatures both days will run in the upper 70s to low 80s.

    Looking Ahead: Your 7-Day Forecast

    • Friday: Partly sunny and pleasant — High 83°, Low 67°
    • Saturday: Showers likely — High 78°, Low 70°
    • Sunday: Gradual clearing — High 83°, Low 70°
    • Monday: A beautiful start to next week — High 80°, Low 64°
    • Tuesday: Mostly sunny — High 80°, Low 63°
    • Wednesday: Mostly sunny and a bit warmer — High 85°, Low 64°
    • Thursday: Partly cloudy — High 84°, Low 69°

Bottom line: enjoy Friday while it lasts. If you’ve got outdoor plans this weekend, Sunday is shaping up to be the safer bet, while Saturday looks like a day to keep the rain gear handy.
