Two young brothers lost their lives in a daylight shooting in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 11, after a man believed to be their father allegedly opened fire on them in the Pico-Union neighborhood. The incident unfolded near a busy intersection, leaving witnesses shaken and prompting a police investigation.

The children, initially reported to be 4 and 10 years old, were found with gunshot wounds near the intersection of Catalina Street and Venice Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m. Authorities later identified them as two boys, aged 4 and 11. Despite being rushed to local hospitals for emergency treatment, both children died from their injuries.

Witness on Passing Bus Tries to Get Help

The shooting reportedly unfolded in broad daylight while an LA Metro bus was passing through the area. A woman riding the bus witnessed what happened and reportedly called for the driver to stop, hoping to help the children.

A video recorded in the aftermath captured the distress of people who said they had witnessed the incident. The account highlighted how quickly an ordinary afternoon turned into a devastating emergency.

Investigators are seeking footage from the Metro bus that may have captured important details about the shooting. The video could help detectives establish the sequence of events and clarify what happened at the scene.

Suspect Hospitalized and Held in Custody

Police said the suspected shooter, a 35-year-old man identified as the children’s father, also suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital and remains in custody while receiving medical treatment.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division is leading the investigation. Officials have said there are no additional suspects being sought and no ongoing threat to the wider community.

Authorities have not publicly established what prompted the shooting. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, including the events leading up to the violence.

    Family Left Searching for Answers

The deaths have left relatives and members of the surrounding community struggling to understand how the two young boys lost their lives. As the investigation continues, questions remain about what happened before the shooting and what may have led to the deadly encounter.

For investigators, witness accounts, available video footage and other evidence will be important in building a clearer picture of the incident. Police have not announced a confirmed motive.

The case remains under investigation, and further details may emerge as detectives continue their work.
