A routine motorcycle ride in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, took a frightening turn when a group of riders encountered a pickup truck whose driver allegedly tried to push them off the road. Video recorded during the encounter has since spread widely on social media, prompting local police to investigate.

Sarah Miller, one of the three motorcyclists involved, said the group was enjoying what they expected to be their final ride of the season as cooler weather approached. What began as a normal outing soon became a dangerous situation that left the riders scrambling to avoid the truck.

New Sewickley Township police confirmed that they are investigating the incident.

Motorcycle ride turns into a frightening encounter

Miller said the group was traveling along a two-lane road when the white pickup truck began driving aggressively around them. According to her account, the truck was initially in the right lane while the motorcyclists were traveling in the left lane.

She alleged that the driver attempted to cut between the riders, disrupting their group and creating a potentially dangerous situation.

Footage captured on Miller’s Insta360 camera shows the pickup approaching the motorcycles before appearing to cut off one of the riders. Miller said the situation escalated as the group attempted to move away from the truck.

“The truck cut him off, and we go and merge, and then he gets behind us, and I get ran off road, my buddy gets ran off the road,” she recalled.

Miller said she feared she would have to leave the roadway to avoid being struck.

“I was like, ‘I’m going in the grass. I’m gone,'” she said.

The recording shows the white truck moving close to the motorcycles as the riders attempt to get away. The company’s name, CE Little Contracting, is visible on the side of the vehicle.

As the encounter continues, the video appears to show the truck crossing into the opposing lane to catch up with Miller. She said the driver’s behavior seemed to change after she pointed toward her camera.

“As soon as I pointed to that camera, it looks like he kind of backs off and slows down a little bit,” Miller said.

She suggested the driver may not have realized the encounter was being recorded. The driver’s intentions have not been independently established, and police have not announced a final determination about what happened.

Rider says she does not know what triggered the incident

Miller said she could not identify a clear reason for the confrontation. She maintained that the group was simply enjoying a ride and had not knowingly done anything to provoke the driver.

The experience was particularly unsettling because she said she had never encountered anything similar during her time on the road.

Miller also highlighted the difference in size between the vehicles involved. She weighs approximately 115 pounds, she said, while her motorcycle weighs around 450 pounds. She estimated that the pickup weighed at least 10,000 pounds.

Even a relatively minor collision between vehicles of such different sizes could have serious consequences for a motorcyclist.

Unlike occupants of a passenger vehicle, riders have little physical protection surrounding them in a crash. Being forced onto grass, loose gravel or uneven pavement can also make it harder to maintain control of a motorcycle.

For Miller, the possibility of a crash was enough to make the encounter frightening.

    Video spreads across social media

After the incident, Miller shared the recording online. The footage quickly attracted attention, with viewers focusing on the truck’s movements and the riders’ attempts to avoid it.

Miller said her intention was not to create an online controversy or specifically seek punishment for the driver. Instead, she wanted to highlight what she viewed as dangerous behavior on Pittsburgh-area roads.

“I didn’t post the video to get anybody in trouble. I just posted it to bring attention to bad drivers in Pittsburgh,” she said.

She added that she hopes the incident encourages drivers to think more carefully about how their actions can affect others.

The recording provides a view of the encounter from the motorcyclists’ perspective, but the investigation will be important in establishing the full circumstances, including what happened before the camera captured the incident and whether any laws were violated.

Why aggressive driving can be especially dangerous for motorcyclists

The incident highlights a broader road-safety concern: motorcycles need adequate space to maneuver, and sudden movements by larger vehicles can leave riders with very little time to react.

Pennsylvania’s driver guidance emphasizes that motorcycles are entitled to the full use of a traffic lane. Drivers should check their blind spots before changing lanes, signal their intentions and leave enough following distance to give riders room to respond to hazards.

Aggressive driving can make those ordinary precautions even more important. Attempting to crowd another vehicle, block its path or escalate a confrontation can quickly turn a traffic disagreement into a serious crash.

PennDOT advises drivers who encounter aggressive motorists to avoid challenging them, create distance when possible and contact police from a safe location rather than pursuing the other vehicle.

For motorcyclists, creating distance from an aggressive driver and prioritizing a safe escape route may help reduce the risk of a collision.

Police ask those involved to come forward

New Sewickley Township police said they are investigating the video and want everyone involved in the encounter to contact them.

Anyone with information can call the department at 724-774-2473.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no final findings about the driver’s conduct have been announced. CE Little Contracting was contacted several times for comment but had not responded at the time of the report.

Rider plans to keep recording future trips

The encounter has changed how Miller plans to approach future rides. She said she intends to take additional precautions and keep her camera recording while on the road.

Despite what happened, she emphasized that she and the other riders were not looking for a confrontation.

“We just want to get point A to point B safely, just as cars do. We’re never looking for any trouble,” Miller said. “We just want to enjoy the ride, the wind, the sun.”

For now, the video has brought attention to a frightening roadside encounter, while the police investigation may help clarify exactly what happened.

Miller hopes the incident serves as a reminder that everyone sharing the road has a responsibility to drive safely. For motorcyclists, a sudden move by a larger vehicle can leave little room for error—and the consequences can be life-changing.
