A teenage boy and girl were hospitalized after a shooting Saturday night in Long Beach, with police continuing to investigate what led to the gunfire.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Lemon Avenue at about 9:13 p.m. on September 26 after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims, both under 18, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The latest reports indicate that the girl suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The boy was reported to be in critical but stable condition, an update that is more serious than the initial information that both victims were expected to survive.
The shooting happened in the Midtown area, near Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The 1900 block of Lemon Avenue has also been the location of another shooting involving a teenage girl earlier in September, although police have not said the incidents are connected.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to Saturday night’s shooting and transported the two victims to local hospitals.
