The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. at The Spot Smok Shop in the 9100 block of Somerset Boulevard. Deputies responded after receiving a report of gunfire and learned that two masked individuals had entered the business.
Investigators said one of the suspects opened fire toward an employee who was inside the shop. The employee was behind bullet-resistant glass and was not struck by the gunfire. Later reports said the employee survived and was in stable condition.
After the shooting, the suspects allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail into the business. The incendiary device started a fire that badly damaged the shop, with images from the scene showing extensive destruction inside the building.
The two suspects left the area in an unknown vehicle. Both were wearing masks, and authorities have not released a detailed description that could help identify them. No arrests had been announced in the latest reports.
