A 67-year-old New York City man is in intensive care after being found badly injured on the tracks at a Queens subway station, nearly a year after he was seriously assaulted on another subway platform.
David Williams was discovered around 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Parsons Boulevard station near Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, according to Local News New York. He suffered a fractured skull and was placed on a ventilator.
His wife, Romina Williams, believes her husband was pushed onto the tracks. She told that the back of his head struck the rail and said she does not believe he accidentally fell.
Police have not publicly confirmed that Williams was pushed.
Police investigating what happened at Parsons Boulevard station
Williams was reportedly returning home from a recording studio when police contacted his wife about the incident.
Romina Williams also told that her husband had been carrying roughly $500 in cash, which she said was missing when his belongings were returned. She suspects he may have been robbed.
Authorities have not confirmed that robbery occurred, however.
The circumstances surrounding how Williams ended up on the tracks remain under investigation. His wife is urging investigators to examine surveillance video from the station, saying the footage could help establish what happened before he was injured.
Earlier subway attack left Williams with a broken jaw
The latest incident is especially troubling for the Williams family because of what happened less than a year earlier.
On Sept. 2, 2025, David Williams and his wife were waiting for a northbound No. 4 train at the 59th Street-Lexington Avenue station in Manhattan when, according to Williams, a stranger approached and punched him in the face.
That attack left Williams with two jaw injuries and required surgery. He later spoke with News New York from his hospital bed while preparing for the procedure.
At the time, his wife said she had shouted for help after the attack, while the assailant fled. Police were investigating and looking for surveillance footage, but a suspect description was not available in the report.
Now, less than a year later, Williams is again hospitalized following a serious incident inside the city’s subway system.
Investigation continues as family waits for answers
For Romina Williams, the immediate priority is her husband’s condition. She is also looking for answers about how he ended up on the tracks.
The current investigation has not established whether Williams was pushed, fell accidentally or was the victim of a robbery. Those questions remain for investigators to determine.
