A multi-alarm fire damaged a car dealership in Bridgeport, Montgomery County, on Monday evening, sending firefighters to PA Imports Auto Sales on DeKalb Street.
The fire broke out around 5:10 p.m. at the dealership in the 1000 block of DeKalb Street. Firefighters from Bridgeport and neighboring departments responded as flames spread through the property.
Crews remained at the scene for an extended period while working to bring the fire under control. DeKalb Street was also closed as emergency crews worked in the area.
Initial information indicated that the fire began in a vehicle before spreading to the dealership building. The extent of the damage to the property and vehicles was not immediately clear.
The dealership is located at 1070 DeKalb St. in Bridgeport.
Early reports about injuries were conflicting. Later reporting indicated that no injuries had been reported, while earlier information had said two people were taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not announced what may have started the blaze.
Firefighters continued working at the scene Monday evening as authorities assessed the damage and investigated the circumstances surrounding the fire.
