A man died after being shot in Long Beach Wednesday afternoon, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Officers were called to the area of 21st Street and Cerritos Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries, police said.
The man’s identity has not been released.
Investigators have not yet said what led to the shooting or identified a possible suspect. It was also unclear whether anyone else was injured in the incident.
The investigation remained active as officers worked at the scene Wednesday afternoon. Aerial video showed police continuing to process the area several hours after the shooting.
