A man was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital in critical condition Sunday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle in the city’s Homewood North neighborhood.
The incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Stranahan Street and Myrtle Avenue, where Pittsburgh police were called to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man in the street with significant injuries to his lower legs and other lower extremities. Police said the injuries were consistent with being hit by a vehicle.
Investigators learned that the man had been inside the vehicle with an adult woman before the incident. According to police, the two became involved in an argument, and the man got out of the vehicle.
Police said the woman then moved into the driver’s seat and intentionally drove toward the man, striking him.
After the collision, the woman reportedly left the vehicle and fled the area on foot. The abandoned vehicle remained at the scene as investigators worked to determine what led to the confrontation.
The injured man was transported to a hospital for treatment and was listed in critical condition.
No arrest had been announced as of the latest available information. Pittsburgh police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the events that led up to the argument and the woman’s whereabouts after she left the scene.
