HARVEY, Ill. — Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered Tuesday morning in Harvey, with police saying there was no immediate indication that the death involved foul play.
The Harvey Police Department said officers began investigating around 9:16 a.m. after the remains were found near the 16300 block of Halsted Street.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified as investigators worked to determine the identity of the person and the circumstances surrounding the death. As of Tuesday night, officials had not publicly identified the remains.
Illinois State Police are also assisting with the investigation.
Police said there was no indication of a threat to the public related to the discovery.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not announced a suspected cause or manner of death. Any determination about how the person died will depend on the medical examiner’s findings and the continuing investigation.
