A 35-year-old Harris County man and former high school employee is facing a felony charge after authorities accused him of having sexual contact with a child.

Michael Lynn Jackson Jr. was taken into custody by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact, according to authorities. The charge is classified as a second-degree felony under Texas law.

Jackson appeared before a magistrate judge early Thursday as the case moved into the court process.

The school where Jackson was employed at the time of the alleged incident has not been publicly identified.

    Court places restrictions involving children

During the hearing, the judge ordered restrictions that Jackson would have to follow if bond is set.

Those conditions include having no contact with the child involved in the case. Jackson was also ordered to stay away from schools, daycares, parks, playgrounds and other locations where children commonly gather.

The restrictions also prohibit him from having contact with anyone under 17, including his own children.

The court further placed limits on Jackson’s use of the internet and social media involving sexually explicit material.

    Attorney asks for $7,500 bond

Jackson’s attorney asked the court to set his bond at $7,500, pointing to his ties to the community, full-time employment, pursuit of a bachelor’s degree and lack of previous criminal convictions.

The judge did not grant that request during the hearing and instead referred the bond decision to the trial court.

Jackson remains in custody as the case proceeds.

The allegations against Jackson have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty through the legal process.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the identity of the school where Jackson worked at the time of the alleged offense.
