CHICAGO — Three people died and eight others were injured in a series of shootings across Chicago between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, October 9-11, 2026. The incidents were reported in several neighborhoods, including Englewood, West Humboldt Park, Roseland and West Englewood.

The victims included two 16-year-old boys who were shot while sitting in a parked vehicle, as well as a 13-year-old boy who was wounded on Sunday. Three adults later died from their injuries in separate incidents on Saturday.

Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shootings. In two of Friday’s incidents, people of interest were taken in for questioning, and firearms were recovered.

    Friday Shootings Injure Several People

The first reported incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. Friday in the 6400 block of South Green Street in Englewood.

A 54-year-old man was approached by at least one person who struck him in the head with an unknown object and demanded his belongings, police said. When the man refused, the assailant shot him in the abdomen.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. A person of interest was taken in for questioning, and a gun was recovered.

Minutes later, at approximately 7:21 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot inside a business in the 4400 block of West Cortez Street in West Humboldt Park. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Another person of interest was questioned, and a handgun was recovered.

Later that evening, a 44-year-old man was caught in gunfire while standing on a sidewalk in the 0-99 block of West 112th Street in Roseland. Two people were exchanging gunfire from vehicles when the man was struck. He transported himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

Another shooting was reported at approximately 11:20 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Laflin Street in West Englewood.

Two 16-year-old boys were sitting inside a parked vehicle when a person on a motorcycle pulled alongside them and opened fire. The shooter fled east on 65th Street, police said.

One teenager suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was taken to the University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital. The second boy was shot in the foot and transported to OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park. Both were reported in good condition.

Three People Killed in Separate Saturday Shootings

Saturday brought three fatal shootings in different parts of the city.

At approximately 1:36 a.m., a 26-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the hallway of a residence in the 3600 block of West Fifth Avenue. Emergency responders took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remained under investigation.

Hours later, at 8:43 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was standing outside in the 2800 block of West 23rd Street when she heard a loud noise and suddenly felt pain. She had been shot in the right armpit and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The third fatal shooting was reported at approximately 10:47 p.m. in the 10900 block of South Wabash Avenue.

Officers found a 46-year-old man lying on the ground with three gunshot wounds to his left thigh. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center but could not provide further details about what had happened. He later died at the hospital.

The three deaths occurred in separate incidents, and police were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding each case.

Teenager and Two Older Adults Wounded Sunday

Gun violence continued into Sunday, with three additional people reported wounded in separate incidents.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a 61-year-old man was walking in the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue when a passing vehicle approached and someone inside fired a shot, striking him in the left ankle.

He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in fair condition.

Less than an hour later, at 2:27 a.m., a 13-year-old boy was shot in the right arm in the 5200 block of South Winchester Avenue. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and was reported in good condition.

The third reported Sunday shooting occurred at approximately 2:31 p.m. inside a business in the 3900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.

A 61-year-old woman was shot in the left leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Her condition was reported as good.

    Investigations Continue

The weekend’s shootings affected victims across a wide age range, from a 13-year-old child to adults in their 60s. Several victims were hospitalized, while three people died following separate incidents on Saturday.

Although people of interest were questioned and firearms were recovered in two Friday shootings, those developments did not establish responsibility for the other incidents.

Police continued investigating the reported shootings. The available information did not establish whether the incidents were connected, and further details about possible suspects or motives had not been confirmed.
