A 72-year-old woman who was reported missing in Newton, Massachusetts, was found safely Tuesday morning following an hours-long search, police said.
Deborah Chang had been reported missing after she left her home Monday afternoon for a walk and did not return. She was last seen around 4:30 p.m. on Theodore Road.
Police said Chang told her son she was going for a walk. Investigators were concerned because she is from Taiwan and was not familiar with the Newton area.
Chang was described as about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing approximately 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last known to be wearing a pink blouse and blue jeans.
The search continued into the overnight hours. Officers responded to the Theodore Road area around midnight, and a drone was used as police worked to locate her.
Chang was ultimately found in the Newton area Tuesday morning and was safely brought out of the woods.
No further details about her condition were immediately available.
The search ended after police located Chang, bringing a close to the effort that began Monday afternoon.
