Philadelphia-area residents can expect another warm and humid day Thursday, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s before a change in the weather arrives.
The National Weather Service is forecasting mostly sunny conditions through much of Thursday, with a high near 87 degrees in Philadelphia. A few showers could develop during the afternoon, but the better chance for unsettled weather comes Thursday night.
Showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Thursday evening into the overnight hours. The chance of rain increases after Thursday afternoon, although widespread severe weather is not expected across the Philadelphia area.
Rain could linger into the early overnight period before conditions gradually improve. Some locations could pick up locally heavier rainfall if thunderstorms develop, but the current forecast does not point to a widespread flooding threat.
Cooler, less humid air arrives Friday
The biggest change in the forecast comes Friday.
After Thursday’s warmth and humidity, temperatures should fall back to around 81 degrees, with mostly sunny skies expected. The air will also feel noticeably less humid as winds turn more northerly.
Friday night should be comfortable as temperatures drop into the lower 60s.
Saturday is shaping up to be one of the more pleasant days of the weekend. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies and temperatures near 82 degrees.
Rain chances increase again Saturday night. A disturbance could bring showers and possibly a thunderstorm during the overnight hours, with the latest forecast showing a higher chance of precipitation than earlier in the weekend.
Sunday could stay unsettled
Sunday is currently expected to remain mostly cloudy, with a chance of showers and temperatures in the lower to mid-80s.
The exact timing and coverage of the weekend rain could still change as the weather system gets closer, so outdoor plans may need some flexibility.
The forecast then trends drier for Monday, with mostly sunny conditions and temperatures in the mid-80s. Another warm day is possible Tuesday, followed by another increase in temperatures by Wednesday.
