One person was injured Sunday afternoon after a large tree fell onto vehicles in Los Feliz, blocking part of Vermont Avenue and prompting a response from emergency crews.
The incident happened around 3:55 p.m. near Vermont Avenue and Melbourne Avenue, where firefighters found the fallen tree across vehicles in the roadway.
The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition. The injuries were described as minor, and no other injuries were reported.
The falling tree damaged multiple vehicles. Images from the scene showed one vehicle with significant damage to its hood and windshield as the tree came down across the street.
Firefighters and police responded while crews worked to remove the tree and clear debris from Vermont Avenue. The obstruction led to a temporary closure of part of the roadway during the cleanup.
The incident occurred during an unusually wet day across Southern California, with rain moving through the region as Hurricane Marie remained offshore. The weather also brought strong surf and hazardous coastal conditions to parts of Southern California.
Authorities have not indicated that anyone else was injured in the incident.
