TOWSON, Md. — Several people were arrested Wednesday night after Baltimore County police responded to a large gathering that had become disruptive in Towson, authorities said.
Officers were called to the unit block of Allegheny Avenue at about 9:10 p.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance. When police arrived, they found a large crowd in the area and began efforts to disperse the gathering.
Multiple arrests were made during the response. Officers also helped people leave the area safely and get to their destinations, according to police.
The incident occurred just days after another large youth gathering in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood prompted a police response at The Rotunda.
Recent Crowd Disturbance in Baltimore
On Monday afternoon, a large group of youths gathered at The Rotunda, where fights and property damage were reported as the crowd grew.
Baltimore police and security personnel were called to the property to help break up the gathering. Two scooter crashes were also reported during the incident, including one in which a scooter went through the window of Cinnaholic.
The Rotunda’s property management said it had monitored social media before Monday’s gathering and arranged for additional security after identifying a post promoting a meetup at the property.
As the crowd grew and behavior became disruptive, Baltimore police were contacted to assist with clearing the area.
The recent incidents have also drawn attention to larger youth gatherings and social-media-organized meetups in the Baltimore area. Baltimore County police have previously worked with shopping centers to enforce parental guidance policies and address disruptive gatherings.
For Wednesday night’s incident in Towson, police have not publicly released the identities of those arrested or detailed the specific charges stemming from the disturbance.
The investigation and police response remain ongoing.
