WHITTIER, Calif. — Ten people were hospitalized after a two-car rollover crash in Whittier Sunday night, with three of the victims reported in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The crash was reported at about 9:10 p.m. near Telegraph Road and Biella Way. Los Angeles County firefighters said crews were dispatched to the area after two vehicles collided.

When firefighters arrived, one vehicle was on its side near a building, while the other had overturned onto its roof in the middle of the street.

Crews found 10 people who needed medical attention and transported all of them to nearby hospitals. Their injuries varied. As of about 11 p.m., firefighters said three people were in critical condition, four had minor injuries and the condition of three others was not known.

The crash also temporarily shut down the intersection while emergency crews worked at the scene. Firefighters said the closure lasted nearly an hour as authorities investigated the collision and crews cleared debris from the roadway.

The cause of the crash had not been released as of the latest available report.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department remained the primary source for the number of people hospitalized and their reported injury conditions. No additional details about the victims were immediately available.
