Marcia Sangronis, 38, was taken into custody Tuesday after Hialeah police investigated a reported domestic violence incident at her home. The incident allegedly began after the couple argued about the man’s plans for a career in law enforcement and escalated when he said he wanted to end their two-year relationship.
According to the arrest report, the man told officers that discussions about his career had repeatedly caused tension between the couple. He said Sangronis would become angry during those conversations, so he had previously tried to avoid the subject.
The situation reportedly intensified the following morning when he told Sangronis that he was finished with the relationship and wanted to leave.
Police said the man tried to reach the front door, but Sangronis allegedly stood in the doorway and prevented him from leaving. He told investigators that she then grabbed him and pulled him away from the exit before the confrontation became physical.
The man alleged that Sangronis scratched him on his arms, face and back and bit his left forearm several times. He eventually managed to get away from the residence and flag down Hialeah officers.
Investigators documented multiple injuries. Police reported three bite marks on his left arm, including one that broke the skin, along with scratches on his body, arms and face.
The man also told investigators that he had experienced physical and emotional abuse during the relationship. Those allegations concern his account of the relationship and have not been established as facts in court.
Sangronis was also interviewed by investigators, but the portion of the arrest report containing her account was redacted, leaving her version of the confrontation unavailable in the public report.
Charge Reduced During Court Appearance
Sangronis was initially booked on a charge of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. During a court appearance Wednesday, however, a judge found probable cause for misdemeanor battery instead.
Her bond was set at $1,000, and the court ordered her to have no contact with the alleged victim. She was subsequently released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
The case remains pending, and the allegations have not resulted in a finding of guilt.
Police Department Relieves Officer of Duty
The North Bay Village Police Department said Sangronis was off duty when the alleged incident occurred. Following her arrest, the department relieved her of duty with pay under its procedures.
Sangronis has been with the North Bay Village Police Department since 2025 and was reportedly still in a probationary period when she was arrested.
The department said it expects its officers to maintain high standards of conduct and remain accountable for their actions both on and off duty.
The latest public reporting does not indicate a final decision about Sangronis’ employment or the outcome of the criminal case. Her release conditions currently include the no-contact order involving the alleged victim.
Sangronis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
