Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a 22-year-old Sacramento mother and her 2-year-old son who have been missing since Sunday and are considered at risk.
Alexia James and her son, Michael Keola, were last seen around 1 p.m. Sunday in the 6900 block of Wagon Wheel Way in Sacramento’s Florin area, according to police.
Police said James is considered at risk because of a mental health condition, while Michael is considered at risk because of his young age. California authorities have also issued an Endangered Missing Advisory for the pair as the search continues.
Investigators believe the mother and child may be on foot in the South Sacramento area, according to information released during the search.
James is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 146 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. When she was last seen, she was wearing cheetah-print pajamas.
Michael is about 2 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 40 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing brown pajamas with a fire-truck pattern.
The circumstances surrounding their disappearance have not been publicly detailed, and authorities have not said where the pair may have gone after they were last seen.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen James or Michael or has information about their whereabouts to contact the Sacramento Police Department at 916-808-5471. Anyone who spots them should contact 911.
The search remains active as authorities work to determine where the mother and child may be and bring them to safety.
