A two-vehicle collision in Roseville on Thursday afternoon left a 78-year-old woman dead and sent three other people to hospitals, including two children, according to police.
The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. near the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and King Road, east of Interstate 80. Roseville police responded to the scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The woman who died was pronounced dead following the crash. The three other people involved were taken to hospitals for treatment. Two of them were juveniles, a 17-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. Both children suffered major injuries but were expected to recover, according to the latest information from police. An adult was also hospitalized.
The crash caused significant disruption along Douglas Boulevard near King Road as investigators worked at the scene. Police asked motorists to avoid the area, warning that the roadway could remain closed for an extended period while the investigation continued.
Investigators have not yet released a detailed explanation of what caused the two vehicles to collide. Police also said it was not immediately clear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
