Several Dundalk High School students were injured Friday afternoon after a vehicle left the roadway and struck pedestrians near the school shortly after dismissal, according to Baltimore County police.

The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of Delvale Road and Holabird Avenue, a short distance from Dundalk High School. Police said the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck multiple pedestrians who were in the area.

At least six juveniles were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. An additional person was evaluated at the scene but declined transportation, according to the latest information from authorities.

Baltimore County Public Schools confirmed that students from the Dundalk High School community were among those injured. In a message to families, school officials said the students were walking home after dismissal when they were struck and were receiving medical care for minor injuries.

The school dismisses students in the afternoon, and the crash occurred shortly afterward as students were making their way home.

Residents also expressed concern about the amount of traffic around Delvale Road and Holabird Avenue, particularly around the time students leave school.

The concerns come as the intersection has previously been the site of serious crashes. However, police have not said that any previous incidents were connected to Friday’s crash.

Police have not released the cause of the crash

The circumstances that caused the vehicle to leave the roadway remain under investigation.

Baltimore County police have not announced whether speed, driver distraction, impairment or another factor played a role. Authorities also have not publicly identified the driver or announced any charges.

Detectives assigned to the crash investigation are working to determine what happened. The area experienced traffic disruptions while emergency crews and police responded to the scene.

For now, officials have confirmed that the injured students were taken for medical tr
