ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A traffic stop in Roseville led to a temporary road closure Monday night after police discovered an object they believed could be an improvised explosive device, prompting a response from a bomb squad.

Roseville police officers were conducting a traffic stop near Ivy Street and Atkinson Street when they found the suspected device, according to police.

Officers quickly secured the area and established a perimeter while a bomb squad was called to examine the object. As a precaution, Ivy Street was closed between Atkinson Street and Vineyard Road while authorities investigated.

The situation was later resolved without further reported danger. Police said the scene was determined to be safe, and the affected roads began reopening.

As of the latest information available, authorities have not confirmed whether the object was actually an explosive device. Police also have not said whether anyone was arrested in connection with the traffic stop or the discovery.

The investigation remains subject to further information from Roseville police. For now, the immediate threat has been cleared and normal traffic has resumed in the area.
