Search crews resumed efforts Monday morning to find a 32-year-old New Haven man who went missing after a jet ski accident on the Connecticut River in Windsor.
Jose Nunez Quezada was reported missing after a collision involving two jet skis shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. According to authorities, Quezada was a passenger on one of the watercraft and fell into the river. He did not resurface.
The search began near the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch, south of the Interstate 291 bridge. Multiple emergency agencies responded to the area as crews worked to locate Quezada.
Quezada was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark-colored swim trunks.
The response included DEEP EnCon Police, Connecticut State Police, the Central Connecticut Dive Team, and fire and police personnel from South Windsor. Windsor and Suffield responders also assisted in the search, according to a Sunday evening report.
The initial search was suspended around 11 p.m. Sunday and was scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. Monday.
The Bissell Bridge Boat Launch is a state-managed access point on the Connecticut River in Windsor, located on East Barber Street near the Windsor-South Windsor bridge. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection lists the launch as a year-round facility.
As of the latest available information, authorities have not announced that Quezada has been located. Search efforts remain ongoing, and additional details are expected as officials continue their work on the river.
