A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot Friday night at a Five Guys restaurant in Oxnard, police said.
Oxnard police and emergency personnel responded to the restaurant in the 2700 block of Portico Way at about 8:25 p.m. on August 28 after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers found the young man suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The victim, who is from Santa Paula, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said he remained in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported in the shooting.
The incident occurred at the Five Guys location at 2730 Portico Way in The Collection at RiverPark. Police activity surrounding the restaurant was visible at the scene as investigators worked to determine what led to the shooting.
Authorities have not released a description of a suspect, and no suspect has been publicly identified. Investigators also have not determined a motive for the shooting.
The case is being handled by the Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit. Detectives are continuing to gather information about what happened before the shooting.
