A Miami nail salon was left with significant damage Friday after a car crashed through its front entrance while employees and customers were inside. No injuries were reported.
The crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. at VN Nails near Coral Way and Southwest 27th Avenue, according to news. Employees told the station that the driver was trying to park when the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that everyone inside the salon was safe after the vehicle entered the business. The incident did not result in any reported injuries.
Images and cellphone video from the scene showed broken glass, debris and damage around the salon’s entrance. The force of the impact also left the front doorway visibly damaged.
Crews remained at the location later Friday as the damaged entrance was secured and boarded up. Traffic cones were placed around the affected area while work was underway.
A customer, Suzette Chavez, said she was shocked by what happened. She recalled that she had previously sat in one of the chairs that was damaged in the crash.
“It’s very scary,” Chavez said.
Information provided to CBS Miami indicated that the driver was a woman in her 70s who may have mistaken the accelerator for the brake pedal. That account has not been presented as a final determination of the cause.
A worker at the salon estimated that repairs could take roughly one to two weeks, although the timeline could change depending on the extent of the damage.
The crash remains under investigation. As of the latest reports, no injuries had been reported in connection with the incident.
