Philadelphia is heading into a relatively comfortable weekend, with sunshine and lower humidity expected Saturday before warmer and more humid conditions build early next week.

Saturday should offer the better weather of the weekend. The latest National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies across Philadelphia, with temperatures reaching about 86 degrees. Winds will generally remain light, with a north wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Saturday night should stay mostly clear, with temperatures falling into the upper 60s.

The drier air will make Saturday feel noticeably more comfortable than the hotter, more humid stretch expected to follow. It should also provide favorable conditions for outdoor plans around the Philadelphia region.

Sunday stays warm, with a small shower chance

Sunday will remain mostly sunny for much of the day, with the afternoon high expected to climb to around 87 to 88 degrees.

The chance of rain increases compared with Saturday, but widespread rainfall is not expected. The National Weather Service currently puts the chance of showers at about 30%, mainly during the afternoon and evening.

That means most of the day could remain dry, although anyone making outdoor plans should be prepared for a passing shower.

Heat and humidity build next week

The comfortable weekend will not last long.

Philadelphia temperatures are forecast to approach 90 degrees Monday, with another warm day expected Tuesday. The weather pattern becomes more unsettled from Tuesday onward, when afternoon showers and thunderstorms become more likely.

The National Weather Service forecast currently calls for temperatures near 90 degrees Monday and Tuesday, followed by additional chances for showers Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is expected to turn mostly sunny again, with a high in the mid-80s.

For now, Saturday stands out as the most favorable day of the weekend for outdoor activities, while Sunday brings a slightly higher chance of rain and the start of a warmer pattern.

    Philadelphia 7-Day Forecast

Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 86, low around 68.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a chance of afternoon showers, high near 87, low around 72.

Monday: Partly to mostly sunny, high near 89.

Tuesday: Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon showers, high near 90.

Wednesday: Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high near 90.

Thursday: Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high near 89.

Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 86.

Forecast information is based on the latest National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mt. Holly forecast available for the region.
