DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A 21-year-old Manhattan man was arrested Friday after he allegedly grabbed a juvenile girl inappropriately in Denville Township and then tried to leave the area in an Uber, according to police.
Denville police responded at about 4:20 p.m. Aug. 21 to a report involving a juvenile female who told authorities she had been inappropriately grabbed by an adult male. Police said the man fled the area after the alleged incident.
Officers responding to the 911 call later located the suspect on Broadway as he was attempting to leave in an Uber, according to police.
The suspect was identified as Ronald Hidary, 21, of Manhattan. Following a brief investigation, officers arrested Hidary and transported him to Denville Police Headquarters for processing.
Hidary was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact under N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), police said.
He was later taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility, where he was being held pending a future appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
The charges are allegations, and Hidary is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
