Two women died Monday morning after a shooting and a house fire at a home on Williams Avenue in Northwest Philadelphia, prompting a homicide investigation.

Emergency crews responded to the home on the 8200 block of Williams Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. on October 12. Firefighters found a kitchen fire inside the residence, where multiple people were present.

Two women were pulled from the home and taken to Einstein Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. Their identities have not yet been released.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 4:30 a.m., allowing investigators to begin examining the scene. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the women’s deaths, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

    Investigation Underway

Investigators have not publicly explained what led to the reported shooting. Details about a possible suspect, including whether anyone has been taken into custody, have not been confirmed in the available reports.

Police are also examining a possible connection between the case and a separate incident involving an armed, barricaded person aboard a SEPTA bus in Philadelphia’s Fox Chase neighborhood. The nature of any potential connection has not been established publicly.

The Philadelphia Police Department and Philadelphia Fire Department are investigating the incident. Officials have not released further details about the victims or the events leading up to the fire.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what happened inside the Williams Avenue home.
