A 19-year-old Pittsburgh man is being held without bail after police accused him of repeatedly stabbing a former co-worker at an East Liberty bus station during a confrontation earlier this month.
Delvin Dobbins was arrested Sunday after authorities received information that he was at a Wendy’s restaurant on McKnight Road. He is facing charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person. A judge later denied him bond.
The stabbing happened shortly before 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at East Liberty Station along the East Busway. Police said the victim, a 20-year-old Wilkinsburg man, was stabbed multiple times and taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say Dobbins and the victim had previously worked together at a Home Depot in East Liberty. Their relationship had reportedly become strained, and police said the dispute involved a female co-worker. According to the criminal complaint, Dobbins had previously threatened the man after being fired from the store.
Witnesses told investigators that the two men were involved in a physical confrontation near the station before the attack escalated. Dobbins allegedly stabbed the former co-worker several times and then left the area.
The arrest came after investigators tracked down information about Dobbins’ whereabouts. Ross Township police and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office located him at the fast-food restaurant on McKnight Road and took him into custody.
Earlier stabbing preceded East Liberty attack
The East Liberty case came only days after Dobbins was arrested in connection with another stabbing in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood.
Police said that incident happened Sept. 23 after an argument on a bus continued after the two men got off near Penn Avenue. The victim was stabbed in the stomach and hospitalized with serious injuries. Officers later found Dobbins nearby and used a Taser after he allegedly resisted during the arrest.
Dobbins was charged with aggravated assault in that case and was released on non-monetary bail the following day. Police later identified him as the prime suspect in the Oct. 1 East Busway stabbing.
That earlier release became a major point of concern after investigators connected Dobbins to the newer case. The complaint in the East Liberty investigation cited the earlier incident and described Dobbins as a potential safety risk to the victim and the community. A judge subsequently denied bond after his latest arrest.
Additional cases are part of his history
Court and police records referenced in local reporting also show Dobbins had been accused in other incidents in recent years.
In September, he was charged with criminal trespassing after police alleged that he entered the home of a former foster parent who had a protection order against him. He was also released on non-monetary bail in that case.
Police had previously arrested Dobbins in 2024 in connection with a shooting involving a South Side convenience store clerk. He was accused of shooting the worker in the chest while the employee was taking out the trash. The available reporting does not establish the final outcome of that case.
More recently, prosecutors filed additional charges against Dobbins related to an alleged Sept. 13 robbery, according to an Oct. 6 update from local authorities.
For now, Dobbins remains in the Allegheny County Jail without bail as the cases move through the court system. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 15.
The allegations are criminal accusations, and Dobbins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
