A high-speed pursuit that moved from Los Angeles into the San Gabriel Valley ended Tuesday night with two alleged robbery suspects in custody after a dangerous chase that reached speeds of up to 115 mph.
The pursuit began shortly before 8:20 p.m. near Washington Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, according to authorities. LAPD officers initially followed the vehicle before California Highway Patrol officers took over as the chase continued onto the freeways toward the San Gabriel Valley.
Aerial video showed the vehicle weaving through traffic on the 210 Freeway at extremely high speeds. The driver was seen moving across multiple lanes and passing other vehicles as officers continued the pursuit.
Around 8:50 p.m., the suspect vehicle left the freeway near Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena. The chase then continued onto local streets, where the driver continued at high speeds and was seen going through intersections without stopping.
The pursuit eventually came to an end in the Sierra Madre area near N. Mountain Trail and E. Laurel Avenue. The driver stopped the vehicle and ran from the scene, while the passenger remained behind and surrendered to officers.
Police then searched the surrounding neighborhood for the second suspect. Officers were seen moving through the area with flashlights and firearms drawn before locating the fleeing suspect a short distance from the vehicle and taking that person into custody.
Both suspects were arrested, but authorities had not publicly identified them as of the latest update.
Police also had not released specific details about the robbery that allegedly led to the pursuit, including where it occurred or what was reportedly taken.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery and the events that led officers from Los Angeles into the San Gabriel Valley.
