A driver was pulled from a vehicle by two people who stopped to help after a car crashed through a fence and struck a Dallas warehouse early Monday morning, with the vehicle catching fire moments later.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the incident shortly after 2 a.m. at a business in the 12800 block of Dickerson Street. Fire officials said the vehicle had crashed into the building before flames broke out.
Video from the scene shows the car accelerating toward the property before breaking through a raised fence and hitting the building. A second vehicle then stopped nearby. Two people got out, ran toward the wrecked car and helped the driver escape through a window as flames began burning underneath the vehicle.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Officials said the extent of the damage to the warehouse was not immediately known, but no one was found inside the vehicle and no injuries were reported.
The building was identified as a warehouse at 17800 Dickerson Street. City records list the property as a commercial warehouse location, and current property information identifies the site as an industrial warehouse facility.
The incident also brought firefighters back to the property later that morning. At about 8:45 a.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue was called after smoke was reportedly seen coming from the roof. Firefighters determined that the smoke was coming from a smoldering bird’s nest in a rain gutter, rather than a new structure fire.
No injuries were reported from either response. Further details about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into the warehouse had not been released.
