A Milwaukee teenager has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting his older sister during a family confrontation in June 2025.

Hezile J. Frison, now 16, pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide in the death of 30-year-old Ashley Hudson. He was sentenced Friday, September 25, to 20 years in prison followed by 10 years of extended supervision. The court also ordered him to pay $1,800 in restitution.

The shooting happened late on June 16, 2025, near West Vliet Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Milwaukee. Frison was 15 at the time.

According to the criminal complaint, the confrontation began after Hudson’s younger sisters became angry with her over social media posts. What started as a family dispute escalated into a physical fight, with witnesses recording parts of the confrontation on their phones.

The recordings became an important part of the investigation. Investigators said Hudson was attacked by two women, with one of them using a baseball bat. At one point, Hudson tried to get away by getting into a parked vehicle, but the confrontation continued.

Hudson eventually came out of the vehicle holding a knife. Investigators said she appeared to be using it to keep the people attacking her at a distance.

Frison then obtained a handgun from his mother’s vehicle and pointed it at Hudson. The video captured people telling him not to shoot. Hudson was moving backward with her hands raised when Frison fired, striking her in the chest at close range. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Frison’s case was initially filed as first-degree intentional homicide after prosecutors charged him as an adult. He later pleaded guilty to the amended charge of first-degree reckless homicide, resolving the case without a trial.

During the investigation, Frison initially gave detectives a different account of what happened. Investigators said he claimed Hudson had moved toward him before the shooting, but video evidence did not support that version.

The case also involved other members of the family. Aaliyah J. Frison, Hudson’s sister, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon for her role in the confrontation. Her prison sentence was stayed, and she was placed on probation. Tara T. Hudson, the mother of Hudson and Frison, pleaded guilty to resisting or obstructing an officer; her custodial sentence was also stayed, with probation ordered.

At Frison’s sentencing hearing, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Borowski spoke at length about the violence that led to Hudson’s death. Frison told the court that he was sorry and that he wanted to bring his sister back.

The judge told him that Hudson could not be brought back and emphasized the consequences of using a gun during the family confrontation.

Frison’s sentence brings the homicide case against him to a trial-court resolution more than a year after Hudson’s death. He will serve 20 years in prison, followed by 10 years of extended supervision, with credit for time already served.
