Two women were hospitalized Saturday night after a physical dispute at Rodney Cook Sr. Park in Atlanta ended with both women suffering stab wounds, police said.
Atlanta police were called to 609 Thurmond St. NW at about 7:24 p.m. Saturday following a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found two adult women with lacerations after a confrontation involving another woman.
Both victims were conscious and breathing when emergency crews took them to a hospital for treatment. Police have not publicly released their names or provided an update on the severity of their injuries.
Investigators recovered a knife at the scene as they worked to determine how the confrontation began and what led to the stabbing. The case is being handled by Atlanta police investigators with the aggravated assault unit.
The incident occurred at Rodney Cook Sr. Park in Atlanta’s Vine City neighborhood. The 16-acre park opened in 2021 and includes recreational areas, walking paths and other community spaces.
Police have not confirmed whether the woman involved in the dispute has been identified or taken into custody. Authorities also have not released information about possible charges.
