An 11-year-old girl reported missing in Grand Prairie has been found safe, bringing an end to an Amber Alert that prompted a search across North Texas.
Grand Prairie police said Thursday night that the girl had been located safely and that the alert was canceled. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about where she was found or what led to her recovery.
The girl was identified as Mila Castanon. She had last been seen in Grand Prairie Thursday morning, and an Amber Alert was issued later that day after authorities determined that she could be in immediate danger.
Earlier information from the alert said Castanon was last seen around 8:30 a.m. in the 500 block of NW 13th Street. She was described as 11 years old, with black hair and brown eyes, and was reported to be wearing a black shirt and yellow pants.
The alert was issued through the Texas emergency alert system and asked members of the public to contact law enforcement if they had information that could help locate her. The emergency alert was scheduled to expire Thursday night, but police canceled it after confirming that the girl had been found safe.
Authorities have not publicly provided a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding her disappearance or recovery. Information about whether anyone else was involved also had not been released as of the latest update.
