Yesterday, I got in touch with one of the WHS Boy’s Basketball coaches, Colton Salyers, and I asked him some questions about the boy’s basketball team this year.
According to Coach Salyers, this year there will be new coaches, new players, and a chance to do something great. This year we have Coach Bradley as a coach for the boy’s basketball team because Coach Callihan went to coach another team(we still love him though). This year we have a fresh new start with new coaches and new players. I hope to see the boy’s basketball team make it far this year.
“Do what is easy, and your life will be hard. Do what is hard, and your life will become easy.” That is what Coach Salyers said when I asked him if the practices would be hard, so the players can get pushed to greater heights. He also said, “Practice may not be the easiest or most fun thing, but working harder than your opponent costs nothing.” After hearing what he said it’s safe to say that the practices will be very difficult.
After asking him if he thinks the team would go far this year he said “Success is not an accident, it is actually a choice.” This year, according to Coach Salyers, is all dependent on the players, and how far they want to push themselves. Coach Salyers believes that his players can achieve anything they put their minds to, but they have to decide they want to work hard and be successful.
This year. the team has several returning players. Those returning players are Senior Caden Nibert, Senior Jameson Morton, Senior Jake Schrader, and Junior Cade Carroll. The first Scrima is Waverly against McClain
