Lunch Policy
There has been a lot of commotion recently with the new lunch policy concerning student drivers. The new policy includes- no signing out for lunch ( you will be marked absent for the time gone), no door dash, and delivery from local pizza restaurants only.
According to attendance records, most of the absences were due to students being late coming back from lunch. Student drivers should be held responsible for their tardiness. However, with that being said where does that leave our new student drivers that are being held accountable for infractions they have not committed?
There were, and are, too many people absent. One quick solution is to make it mandatory for all of the kids to remain on campus for lunch. Ms. Ramsey had said that she is sure if we do a good job with this policy, signing out and getting lunch could be a reward.
DoorDash, on the other hand, is a whole different situation as far as safety goes. Every time you dash you get a different person and you never know what will be in the bag they bring in. Schools work hard to make sure that not just anyone is coming inside school buildings while students are present. Most local pizza delivery drivers are known by the office staff. This is by no means a punishment; it is intended to help us as students be more responsible, and safe, and value the free time we do have during the school day.
